How children’s information is treated
Most of the people a volunteer coach works with are children. This page says what Nothing Unlucky does about that, in plain words, and what it leaves to the club. It describes how the product behaves; it is not a legal document, and your club’s own policy comes first.
Nothing is shown to a player unless the coach chooses
- A player is a person with their own sign-in, added by a coach with an email address. There are no accounts for parents.
- A note is private to the club. For a note to be shown, the coach must name the player in it and then choose, note by note, to show it. It is off for every note to begin with, and taking it back hides it at once.
- A player sees only their own page: the games they have a shown note from, and a summary if the coach has written and approved one.
- Who played, for how long, and who attended a training are the coach’s own records. A player is never shown them.
A player’s review is the coach’s own
- A review is the coach’s look at one player against the FA’s four corners. It is not shown to the player or to parents from the app.
- If a coach wants to give a review to a family, it leaves as a PDF the coach sends themselves. The platform holds no parent contact details for it.
- The coach’s private note about a player is for the coach alone and is never printed.
No rankings, no public statistics
- There are no leaderboards, no league tables of players and no public pages of statistics. This was decided, not postponed.
- There is no automatic tagging or judging of children from video.
Who sees what inside a club
| Role | What they can reach |
|---|---|
| Head coach | Everything the club has: all its teams, events, notes, video, sessions, players and reviews, and the club’s coaches and teams. |
| Coach | The events, notes, players, sessions and reviews of the teams they look after. Another team’s events are answered as if they were not there. |
| Player | Their own page, and only the notes shown to them. |
These limits are held by the server on every request, not by what a page shows or hides.
Photos, voice and video are the club’s
- Photos and voice notes are private to the club that made them. Clubs are kept apart from each other.
- Sharing a clip, a picture or a board animation gives players a link they can open with no account. The link holds a long random code that cannot be guessed, lasts 7, 14, 30 or 90 days and never longer, and the coach must tick that consent is in place before it can be made.
- The coach sees how many times the link was opened and can stop it at once. Stopping deletes the copy, and the link then looks like one that never existed.
- Shared pages are marked not to be indexed by search engines or cached, and run no scripts.
- What it cannot do: anyone who has the link can watch, and could send it on. The short life and the view count are the checks; there is no passcode yet.
AI is off unless the club switches it on
- Optional summaries of a game, of a training, and of the notes about one player are off for every club until the platform’s administrator switches them on, with a limit of uses a month.
- Before anything is sent, the coach sees the exact words that will go, and can change them. Nothing is sent without that step.
- Every name on the club’s roster is replaced by a label such as “Player 12” first. A name that is not on the roster (an opponent, a parent, a referee) cannot be found for you, so the coach reads the words and takes it out.
- Only words are sent: no photo, no sound, no private note. The answer comes back as a draft: the coach reads it, changes it and decides whether to use it. The draft summary of the notes about one player never names another player.
- The log of uses keeps the kind of use and the time, never the words that were sent.
- The words are sent to a third-party AI service. Read its terms and the club’s own policy before switching it on.
What stays with the club
- Consent to film children, consent to share, and the club’s data-protection policy are the club’s own to collect and keep. Nothing Unlucky does not collect consent for you.
- The first time a head coach signs in, they are asked to confirm that the club has its own policy and follows it. The date and the person are kept.
- It does not yet keep a record of who has agreed to be filmed.
